Music Visions: November 2024 #1
OHEXOH - The Fourth Turning (2024)
The Fourth Turning is a serene and spacious ambient release, especially around the second half. It's a bit minimal so expect a more tranquil and mind-clearing listen. It's slightly different 2014's New Horizon, with less astral and otherworldly sounds and more rooted tones. While the project may not stand out with the rest of the ambient scene, I've come out feeling more refreshed for sitting through the ride.

FEX - FEX (1983)
This is something I would have never expected to happen in my lifetime. After close to two decades of searching, "The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet" has been found. And how does it sound? Well, I always liked the song despite how simple it is for the New Wave genre. Hearing the full thing in cleaner quality and a proper outro, it's a satisfying end to a worldwide search. We even have two extra songs that were recorded alongside it and they're both just as groovy and flavorful.

pngsequence, FLOOR BABA & Adam Carey - Egg Squeeze Original Soundtrack (2024)
I'll talk about the game itself on the next "Game Zone" post. For now, the music itself is pretty chaotic but also oozing with fun. I would equate the majority of the songs as jingles, and I'm very tempted to use a few of them as my notification sounds. While I was mostly excited to listen to the FLOOR BABA sections (the one I was most familiar with), I think everyone did an excellent job of giving the most absurd sound for the most wacky game I've played in a while.

Clean Slate - promised walk of peace (2024)
Promised walk of peace is a great step-up for Clean Slate, and one of my favorites alongside Paradise Tension and World Circuit. The barrage of plunderphonic smoothness and greater focus on the specific vaporwave crunch I admire, it makes this album a joyous listen for my ears everytime.
Favorites: burial / allconsumer, life extension, those beyond sight (mix2), es / "this spot marks our graves"
.mp3Neptune - WAVEZZ (2024)
It's been a long while since .mp3Neptune had released a vaporwave-focused album, venturing alongside the popular signalwave sub-genre. Which isn't to say I haven't liked his recent output. I've loved the more electronic and ambient pop ventures like I Just Want Everything to Last Forever . . . and Field Guide. A lot of that experimentation is still here as well, and it's all for the better.
